went to a small island in the japanese ryukyu archipelago called okinawa a few summers back. people in the streets clearly weren't accustomed to seeing americans. they made serious efforts to approach us, despite their deficiencies when it concerned the english language. funny enough, the hotel gave us room 911. here's the view from it.
